Historical Italian Navy Sailing Ship “Palinuro” coming to Cyprus
Something new and different is coming to Cyprus!
From the 28th of August to the 1st of September, Cypriots will have the chance to visit one of the most famous Italian Navy ships,”Palinuro’ built in 1934 and used since 1955 as a training vessel for hundreds of Italian cadets that have started their careers from her decks, learning the basics of seamanship and developing a strong team spirit and personal ethos to uphold the traditions of the Italian Navy.

Italian Gala in Nicosia
ITALIAN GALA OPERA
TELETHON and the Italian Embassy in Cyprus, are organising an exquisite musical event – the concert “Italian Gala Opera” which will consist of the greatest musical moments of lyric operas, by renowned performers.
The event is being held under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades and his wife, Mrs Andrie Anastasiades, Honorary Patron of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
The audience will enjoy arias from AIDA, Othello, La Traviata, Carmen, Nabucco, Tosca and many more from the repertoire of the greatest lyric Operas.
The artists are the Soprano Maria Papaioannou, the Baritone Alberto Gazale, the Mezzosoprano Serena Pasqualini and the Tenor David Sotgiu all of whom have a rich international career with performances in the most important Opera Houses all over the world. They will be accompanied by the Cypriot Chorus CANTUS NOVUS and by a trio composed of Marcos Madrigal (Piano), Doros Zisimos (Cello) and Constantinos Makaritis (Flute).
The event will be held in the gardens of the Presidential Palace on Thursday 15 June 2017 at 9 p.m. A cocktail will be offered prior to the concert at 8 p.m.

The Embassy of Italy is pleased to invite you to the conference “In the wake of Italian Culture in Cyprus from Laura to Beatrice and from Arodafnousa to Dafnou”, organized by Società Dante Alighieri of Cyprus.
The conference will be held by prof. Mimis Sofocleous on Sunday April, 2nd 2017 at 17.00 at the Tonia Jewel and Art Gallery of Limassol (Ayiou Andreou 177, Agora Anexartisias) in English language. Free entrance. Aperitivo to follow.
Italian movie L’Oriana in Nicosia, on occasion of “Women’s Film Week”
The Embassy of Italy kindly invites you to the screening of the movie “L’Oriana”, inspired on the life of the famous journalist and writer Oriana Fallaci, starring actress Vittoria Puccini, which will take place on 31 March at 8.30 p.m. in the contest of the “Women’s Film Week”, event organized every year on the occasion of the International Women’s Day by the “United Nations Development Programme” (UNDP) in Cyprus. The fourth edition of “Women’s Film Week” which will run from 27th to 31st March at the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia, is dedicated on biographical stories of inspiring women who contributed or fought to bring peace to their countries.

Opera night in Limassol
The Embassy of Italy is pleased to present the opera performance “Opera Mater”, which will take place on 1, 2 and 3 April at 20.30 at “TRAKASOL” Cultural Center in Limassol. The work, written and directed by Paolo Baiocco, is based on the “Stabat Mater Dolorosa” by Jacopone da Todi, set to music by Giambattista Pergolesi, with an international cast of Italian and Cypriot artists: Maria Papaioannou (Soprano) Serena Pasqualini (Mezzo Soprano), Nadina Loizidou (Choreographer/Dancer), Marcos Madrigal (pianist) with Concordia String Quartet and the Diastasis Vocal Group directed by Andriana Sergidou.
The event will be held under the auspices of the Ambassador of Italy in Cyprus Guido Cerboni and the Mayor of Limassol Nikos Nikolaides.
