From 13 to 19 November 2023, the VIII edition of the “Week of Italian Cuisine in the World” will be celebrated. This annual event launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – which aims to promote abroad the excellence of the Italian culinary sector.
And we do celebrate it here in the island of Cyprus as well ๐ฎ๐น๐จ๐พ

CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, by Pietro Mascagni with a twist
Pietro Mascagniโs opera CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, is located in Sicily, but has all the ingredients to be a story naturally located in Cyprus: passion, love, jealousy and death.
All the opera will be performed with orchestra and choir, and all the roles, Santuzza, Turiddu, Alfio, Mamma Lucia and Lola, but this version will be richer: an actress in the role of Rosalia, a friend of Santuzza and Turiddu, will tell the audience what happened in the past, how the situation developed in so tragic way, and other details that are not in the operaโs libretto, speaking the Greek language; so the audience will be guided in the drama, to understand what is not openly shown and said.
All the cast is Cypriot, with the only exception of the tenor, in the main role of Turiddu, the Italian tenor, Lorenzo Papasodero: the soprano in the main role of Santuzza is the Cypriot Maria Papaioannou, who sung all over Europe and in America. The chorus is Cypriot, the actress Cypriot, and all the technical team is Cypriot.
The Conductor, the Italian Maestro Piergiorgio Del Nunzio, with big experience in Opera and an important international career, will direct the Cypriot orchestra.
Stage Director is the Italian Paolo Baiocco, who directed Operas all over the world.

The Italian Tenors in Limassol and Nicosia
Following their successful concerts in Nicosia and in Limassol in 2021, โThe Italian Tenorsโ and four amazing musicians are coming back to Cyprus for two summer concerts at Skali Aglantzias and Kourion Ancient Theatre.
The Italian Tenorsย is a classical crossover vocal trio consisting ofย Evans Tonon, Luca Sala and Sabino Gaita. They offer a very varied program, from the classical sounds ofย Ennio Morricone to the pop rhythms of Gloria and Mamma Maria, from romantic Caruso, by Lucio Dalla, and Time To Say Goodbye, by Andrea Bocelli, to Leonard Cohen, and well known opera arias by Verdi or Puccini.

Tribute to ENNIO MORRICONE By Ensemble Le Muse ฮrchestra

The Italian all female orchestra Ensemble Le Muse โan offshoot of famous orchestra Rondo Venezianoโ is playing a tribute to a great Italian Oscar winner, film composer Ennio Morricone. The ensemble will perform the most famous compositions for the international story of cinema, including tracks for films like: โ The Good,The Bad and The Uglyโ, โOnce Upon a Time in America โ, “Once Upon a Time in the Westโ, “For a Fistfull of Dollarsโ, โCinema Paradiso”, โThe Mission โand many others.
The relevant scenes from the films will be screened in the stage background.
